Rohit Sharma (born 30 April 1987) is an Indian international cricketer who plays for Mumbai in domestic cricket
and captains Mumbai Indians within the Indian Premier League as a right-handed batsman
and an occasional right-arm off break bowler. He's the vice-captain of the Indian national team in limited-overs formats. Outside cricket, Sharma is a lively supporter of animal welfare campaigns. He's the official Rhino Ambassador for WWF-India and should be a member of people for the moral treatment of Animals(PETA). He has worked with PETA in its campaign to boost awareness of the plight of homeless cats and dogs in India.
Mariyappan Thangavelu (born 28 June 1995) is an Indian Paralympic high jumper. He represented within the 2016 Summer Paralympic games held in Rio de Janeiro in the men's high jump T-20 category, winning the medal in the finals. He is India's first Paralympic gold medalist since 2004. On 25 January 2017, Government of India announced "Padma Shri" award for his contribution towards sports and within the same year he was also awarded Arjuna Award.
Manika Batra (born June/15/1995) is an Indian table tennis player. As of january 2019, she is that the top-ranked female table tennis player in India and ranked 47th within the world. She specialises in playing long-pimples on her backhand, a rubber which isn't often played by top players. She hails from Naraina Vihar in Delhi and commenced playing table tennis at the age of 4. Her elder sister Anchal and brother Sahil both played table tennis, with Anchal having an influence on her during her early playing career. After winning a match during a state-level under-8 tournament, Batra decided to coach under coach Sandeep Gupta who suggested her to modify to Hans Raj Model School where he ran his academy.
Vinesh Phogat (born August 25, 1994) is an Indian wrestler who comes from a successful family of wrestlers, with her sister Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari being international wrestlers and Commonwealth Games medalists as well. She is the first Indian woman wrestler who win Gold in both Commonwealth and Asian games. Phogat has become the First Indian Athlete to be Nominated for Laureus World Sports Awards to be held on February 18, 2019.
Rani Rampal (born December 4, 1994) is an Indian field hockey player. At the age of 15, she was the youngest player in national team which participated in the 2010 World Cup. She has completed her schooling but was not able to get the graduate degree due to practice sessions and matches which were lined up. She plays forward on her team. She has played 212 international matches also scored 134 goals. She is currently the Captain for Indian Women's Hockey Team. She is also well known as a striker who is often doubles up as mid-fielder. She has a great fascination with CWG. In 2020, the Government of India honoured her with the Padma Shri.
